The term Anime refers to Japanese cartoons and animations. Comiket was the first original convention for the anime genre. This started in 1975 with 700 people.
In the 1960s, Osamu Tezuka set up Mushi Productions and was a professional ‘Manga’ animator. He is popular as the Father of Manga.
The pop culture of Japan got immensely popular in the past few decades. In the 1990s, various anime comics, video games and T.V. shows developed. Moreover, this led to the popularity of anime. Today this industry has around 400 productions. “National Anime Day” is known to celebrate the Japanese Anime culture. The celebration for this day happens in the different conventions. These conventions are set up across Asia, UK and USA. This convention started a few decades ago. Anime conventions also started in Japan just like anime.

This day is all about anime culture. Dress up as your favourite anime character and post selfies on your social media accounts. Attend an anime convention. Participate in activities at your nearest anime convention. You can interact with other people dressed up as anime characters. To add some effort, design your favourite costume. Read some Manga books. Try reading some 20th-century animes and you will notice the difference. Those had different illustrations and some hand-made drawings. Although, if you don’t want to go to any events then watch anime series online. Some popular anime series are Sol Levante, Naruto, Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis Evangelion.

The meaning of manga in Japanese is comics. A Japanese person spends $30 on anime comic books each year. In the late 60s, female artists started working in this industry. The first anime magazine for kids was Shônen Magazine. Japan has Manga cafes where people can enjoy reading comics while having tea. These cafes are also called Comic cafes.
