As regions of south India experience the effects of Cyclone Asani, Bengaluru has also experienced gloomy skies and rainfall in recent days. As a result, the temperature has fallen, leading city dwellers to take out their warm clothes. As per the weather experts, Wednesday, May 11, was one of the coolest days in the city in recent decades.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) validated this, saying that the cold weather is the outcome of a storm that came ashore on the coast of Andhra Pradesh late on Wednesday. According to the International Meteorological Department, May 11 was the chilliest day since 2012, with the lowest temperature of 19.5°C and the highest temperature of 24°C. The coldest May weekday in current Bengaluru history occurred on May 14, 1972, when the maximum temperature was 22.2°C.

As it was earlier thought that Asani would not make landfall, it resumed its progress further towards the Andhra coast on Wednesday and abruptly shifted direction.
