Samsung Galaxy S5 launched for Indian market

Samsung has announced the launch of its flagship Galaxy S5 smart phone, for the Indian market. Available in 16 or 32 GB native storage, the devide supports microSD cards of up to 128 GB.

Galaxy S5 features a 5.1-inch FHD Super AMOLED (1920 x 1080) display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 2GB of RAM and a 16 megapixel rear camera with an autofocus speed – up to 0.3 seconds. The new feature of Selective Focus allows users to blur out the background and focus on a specific area of an object. The phone also has a 2.1 megapixel front camera.

Powered by an eight-core Exynos processor with four clocking at 1.9GHz and four at 1.3GHz, Galaxy S5 supports Android 4.4.2 KitKat , packed with a 2800mAh battery and is resistant to water and dust. It offers the Finger Scanner lock, a biometric screen locking feature.

The Ultra Power Saving Mode shuts down all unnecessary features and turns the display to black and white, minimizing the battery consumption. S Health 3.0 offers more tools to help people stay fit. Galaxy S5 can be paired with the next-generation Galaxy Gear products which can be used for fitness coaching.

The phone which is expected to cost between Rs 51,000 and Rs 53,000 will be available in India from April 11, 2014. Galaxy S5 will be available in four colors – electric blue, charcoal black, shimmery white and copper gold.
