The United Kingdom has been facing a ‘government crisis’ lately. With the resignation of two government officials, Chancellor (Rishi Sunak) and Health Secretary (Sajiv Javid), the UK does not have a strict hold on its government, reports The Indian Express.
The reason for the resignation is now known, while Sajiv Javid believes that his resignation benefits the national interest. Even Rishi Sunak claims that he “cannot continue like this.”
In the latest statement by Rishi Sunak, he says, ” The public rightly expects the government to be conducted properly, competently and seriously. I recognize this may be my last ministerial job, but I believe these standards are worth fighting for, and I am resigning.”
While Sajiv Javid says that he could “no longer continue in good conscience” and concludes by saying that their party isn’t “competent” and does not act in the “national interest.”
Reason for the resignation:
The officials were against appointing Pincher as the Deputy Chief Whip, in charge of party discipline. When the allegations against him groping two men at a private member’s club at London was a big issue, Johnson, knowing these allegations and the seriousness of the complaints against Pincher, still appointed him to such an important post was a drawback for his party.
Though in response to the resignation on Twitter, Johnson added that he was not aware of any specific allegations against Pincher when he was appointed to the post.

He deeply regretted his decision and expressed it by saying, “In hindsight, it was the wrong thing to do, and I apologize to everyone who has been badly affected by it. I want to make sure absolutely clear that there’s no place in this government for anybody who is predatory or abuses their position of power”.
