Nadal, Djokovic and Federer reach Monte Carlo Masters Quarters

Defending champion of Monte Carlo Masters, Novak Djokovic raced into the quarterfinals of the tournament on Thursday. He defeated Pablo Carreno Busta in just 47 minutes with 6-0, 6-1.

Djokovic had won his second-round match also in just 45 minutes. Rafael Nadal also reached the last eight easily beating Andreas Seppi with 6-1, 6-3 and Roger Federer won against Lukas Rosol with 6-4, 6-1.

Nadal, who lost last year to Djokovic in the final said that he played a bit better than previous day and he is playing with the right intensity. This is Nadal’s 300th career victory on clay. He became just the 11th man to have 300 wins on the dirt.

Nadal’s next match is set with the sixth-seeded David Ferrer. Second seeded Djokovic will take on either Guillermo Garcia-Lopez or No. 5 Tomas Berdych while fourth-seeded Federer will face ninth-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Nadal has career record a 21-5 against Ferrer while Federer has a 10-4 record against Tsonga.

Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland, who is seeded third and Milos Raonic of Canada, who is seeded eighth also advanced.

Federer has never won in Monte Carlo, as he lost in three straight finals from 2006-08 to Nadal. They can’t meet this time also until the final.
