Day 3 IPL: Rajastha Royals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab’s Vs Chennai super Kings

Two of the IPL matches took place on April 18, 2014, both in Abu Dhabi. Glenn Maxwell’s knock of 95 in 43 balls from Kings XI Punjab’s upset Chennai Super Kings. Rajasthan Royals restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad to 133/6 in the fourth match of IPL 7.

CSK was pretty confident after scoring 205 runs, but when Maxwell took charge, all the smiles disappeared from the faces of Dhoni’s men. He guided Punjab to victory with seven balls to spare. Maxwell had 15 fours and 3 sixes in his total score. David Miller took over from Maxwell as soon as he was dismissed by scoring 54 off 37 balls.
iplday3Maxwell and Miller shared a partnership of 115 runs for the fourth wicket together after Virender Sehwag (19 runs off 10 balls) and Cheteshwar Pujara (13 runs off 10 balls) departed in quick succession.

The other match between RR and SRH saw some disciplined bowling. Royals were successful in restricting Sunrisers to 133 for 6. Skipper Shane Watson won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Dhawal Kulkarni (2/23), Rajat Bhatia (2/22) and Kane Richarson (2/25) showed brilliant bowling to restrict Hyderabad batsmen. Hyderabad failed to accelerate the strong foundation laid by Shikhar Dhawan (38 runs) and David Warner (32 runs). The duo shared a 77-run stand off 64 balls.
