Despite facing a fair bit of allegations, the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) reach out to the public has played a massive role in its successful entry into the national space.
However, the party managed to pocket only four seats across the nation in the recently held Parliamentary elections. Now, after a lull, initiatives have been adopted by AAP to kick off internships for the youth in the party.
The two month internship program offered for the young brains aims at conducting researches over governance-related fields and to assist in new initiatives that are planned to be implemented by party MLAs. AAP has clarified that the internship will be for 20 young and innovative people.
According to an ET report on August 13, AAP member Gopal Mohan, who is also the coordinator of the program, has been quoted as saying that over 31,000 citizens have applied for internship.
Of that number, 100 people have been short-listed and would be called for an interview. Gopal has said that more than half of the short-listed ones are students from IIMs and IITs.
AAP is also set to start a ‘signature’ campaign demanding fresh elections in Delhi. Letters, signed by Arvind Kejriwal, elaborating on the need for fresh elections have been released to the residents across all constituencies.
Efforts of the AAP in extending out of the capital city have also seen new prospects, like the opening of an AAP helpline against corruption in the commercial capital city of Mumbai.
