Indian mobile phone manufacturers recently had emerged on top with the rollout of a slew of smartphones and tablets within the mainland. At par with this progress is yet another increase, but this piece of info could give you the jitters.
A Mobiletor report on Sep 2 said that India stands fourth in cases of mobile malware. The Threat Report H1 2014 by F-Secure Labs has underlined that the nation has been affected by around 295 such cases in the three months between April and June. With just one being affected from an iOS device, the remaining infections have been caused on Android devices.
Mobile malware attacks
The numbers would be of serious concern when considering the same for the January-March period. During the span of the first quarter, around 277 malware cases have shown up with 275 being confined to Android devices. With Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh and New Delhi proving to be widely prone to malicious attacks, the illicit doers also seemed to have triggered the same on the following tier cities.
Countries standing above India in the list of malware infection cases from mobiles are the UK, France, and Saudi Arabia, with the UK mobile users experiencing the most trouble with their mobiles. The widespread phenomenon of such attacks is only likely to increase with the rise in users.
With countless smartphones and tablets coming into the market, network providers have also taken up providing the users with eye-popping offers with their 2G/3G networks. It’s a good sign for mobile users and cyber criminals; unfortunately, it has been pointed out.
