The Pakistan Cricket Board has some serious thinking to complete for the post of T20 skipper of the team as both Faward Alam and Shahid Afridi are in the running.
PCB has backed both Faward Alam and Shahid Afridi, however there are dark clouds over retaining Misbah-ul-Haq as the skipper for ODIs.
The confusions seem more apparent as Shaharyar Khan, the current chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, has said that he wanted consistency in the team and captaincy, but has also mentioned that the captaincy issue will be finally discussed in the Governing Board meeting.
A report in NDTV quoted Shaharyar, “It is wrong to say we have issued any warning to Misbah when he met me in Lahore. But yes I did ask him his frame of mind and how he looked at things. It is also wrong to say that the coming series against Australia in the UAE will be his last as captain if the team does not do well.”
“We have talent in our team but what is most important for us to look at is who is capable of the best crisis management in difficult situations and so far Fawad has impressed me a lot,” he added.
While praises coming for batsman Fawad Alam does hint at a few changes, but he has not played a T20 for his team since 2010 and has been only active in ODIs.
On the other hand, Shahid Afridi is easily the most experienced man in the team and he may be selected by PCB to don the hat of the captain against Australia and New Zealand in the coming T20 matches.
