Police are looking for a man they say left a woman hospitalized after a shooting in Memorial Park Sunday night.
Multiple 911 calls started coming in at 9:30 p.m. reporting gunfire heard at the park. Officers from three substations responded and found a 20-year-old woman with gunshot wounds.
Police say the woman appears to have been shot during an argument.
“There was a disturbance between associates — they weren’t strangers,” said Lt. Alan Van’t Land with the Colorado Springs Police Department. “… A verbal altercation led to some gunshots.”
After the woman was shot, police said a second person in the group traded gunfire with the suspect, but there is no indication either was hit.
Detectives are still trying to get information on the suspect. At the time of this writing, he is only known to be a 5-foot-5 white male.
Anyone with knowledge that can help in the case is encouraged to call CSPD at 719-444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 719-634-STOP. Crime Stoppers tips can be made anonymously.
The victim is expected to survive.
