The demolition of the nearly 100-meter-tall buildings, Supertech Twin Towers, in Noida’s sector-93A was carried out successfully on Sunday following a series of controlled implosions. The two towers came down entirely in about nine seconds. The demolition was carried out with ‘waterfall implosion’ technique. Following the demolition, the nearby buildings appeared to be safe.
The towers had been fitted with around 3,700 kg of explosives that were drilled into their walls. The mandate for the demolition was given to a Mumbai-based firm called Edifice Engineering and a South African firm, Jet Demolition.
Keeping in mind the nearby structures, several apartment towers in Supertech’s Emerald Court and ATS Village were covered with a geo-textile fabric for protection. About 5,000 residents were also vacated, and their cars were moved out.
