Ravi Shastri not to accompany Indian team during West Indies series

BCCI officials have said that Ravi Shastri would not be present alongside the team in the upcoming home series against West Indies.

However, the former right hander would continue as team director and would be joining the team in its tour to Australia later this year.

BCCI would be holding a meeting today to work out a proposal in this regard and said that Shastri would be allotted time for covering his prior media commitments.

The officials would be holding a discussion with the working committee members to reach a conclusion before an announcement is made.

Various sources also mentioned that Ravi Shastri would be joining the men in blue for their Australian tour to happen later this year.

The tour would be followed by the ICC World Cup in February in which Shastri is expected to pursue his role as team director.

Ravi Shastri was appointed team director following the humiliating results in the Test match series against England, in which the Indian squad was humbled for a 3-1 defeat.

His appointment ushered in some freshness as the men in blue wrapped up the ODI series 3-1.

West Indies would be visiting India for a two month tour starting with a warm up match against Indian A line up on the 3rd of October.

The five match bilateral ODI series would commence on the 8th of October with a match at Kochi.

The series would be followed by a stand-alone T20 match and a three-match Test series during the same month before wrapping up the tour by the second half of November.
