‘Bang Bang’ and ‘Haider’ first day box-office collections report

Despite a clash of genres, “Bang Bang” and “Haider”, which opened on October 2, 2014, have opened to a good response.

The first day collections of “Bang Bang” are said to be Rs 27.54 crores, while “Haider” is expected to pick up with rave reviews from all sections. According to early estimates “Haider” collected around Rs 7.5 crores on Thursday.

To be precise, both films are vastly different, and either of them is not expected to eat into one another’s profits.

“Haider” is being made at a speculated budget of just Rs. 24 crore, while “Bang Bang” production and promotion costs are reported to be over Rs. 100 crore.

In the festive season and owing to the star cast, “Bang Bang” starring Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif was expected to open better, and the movie has taken the advantage perfectly, reports a post Koimoi.com.

Also in terms of release spectrum, both films are different. While screen count of “Haider” starring Shahid Kapoor is close to 1200, the screen count of “Bang Bang” was 4,500 worldwide.

“Bang Bang” opened in 3700 screens in Hindi, along with 200 screens in Telugu and 120 screens in Tamil.

With occupancy over 90% in the morn shows, trade pundits now believe that the first day collections of “Bang Bang” should be more than Rs. 25 crore. On the other hand, the 1st day collections of “Haider” can be anywhere between Rs 6-7 crore.

While “Bang Bang” opened to packed houses in Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, and Delhi, “Haider” has done fare in the multiplexes and will pick up over the weekend.
