If you live in Pennsylvania and have an electric vehicle, the local government offers you a tax rebate for taking care of the planet.
According to the information released by Pennsylvania’s government, electric drivers could receive up to $3,000, depending on their household income.
Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection raised the maximum amount low-income applicants would receive on tax rebates if they own an electric vehicle.
When can I apply for the $3,000 rebate?
The program offers a thousand inflated rebates beginning on September 1 and ending on June 30, 2023.
The program recently increased its maximum amount from $750 to $1,000 for low-income owners.
Those changes benefit working-class families. Pennsylvania will spend over $2 million (from September 2022 to June 2023) in rebates for drivers owning an electric vehicle.
The Inflation Reduction Act’s credits can combine with Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection rebate, and it’s described as a taxable income.
WESA illustrates that Pennsylvania registered around 23,000 electric vehicles last year.
Who’s eligible?
According to Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection, individuals earning less than 400% of the federal poverty level ($54,360), and families of four making less than $111,000 qualify for the rebate.
Residents who drive electric cars or trucks can get a rebate too.
If you have a hybrid electric vehicle, the rebate is also for you.

- $1,500 for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles
- $500 for natural gas-fueled vehicles
- $500 for propane-fueled vehicles
- $500 for electric motorcycles
