‘Happy New Year’ movie review and box-office collection report

Shah Rukh Khan starrer “Happy New Year” released across more than 6000 screens worldwide on October 24, 2014, and from what the early day trends suggest, it might set the box office on fire.

“Happy New Year” is based on the heist theme and is intended to be comical, as well. The movie has opened to mixed reviews.

Directly by Farah Khan, the movie stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah with Jackie Shroff. Jackie is playing the antagonist in the film.

As expected, the anticipations with “Happy New Year” have been high, and the film has garnered enough pre-release buzz to get the cash boxes ringing.

The movie has been creating new records, including the screen count.

A report on International Business Times said that the screen count of “Happy New Year” is close to 6,000 screens worldwide, which is the biggest ever.

There are around 5,000 screens in India, and the remaining abroad. “Happy New Year” has reportedly collected a earth shattering and record breaking collections of Rs 41 crores on its first day. The 2nd and 3rd day being festival weekends are expected to collect even more than the first day.

The movie will also be released in Tamil and Telugu versions, which is likely to add more to the revenues.

It is expected that the 1st day collections of “Happy New Year” should be around Rs. 35 crores or more. The exact figures are expected soon.

Trade Analyst Komal Nahata tweeted, “Early indications suggest #HappyNewYear will record highest ever first-day collection despite less shows due to length. Advantage: holiday”

The movies marks the return of Deepika and Shah Rukh after their record breaking “Chennai Express”, while Farah too is directing Shah Rukh after fall out some years back.
