Shweta Basu Prasad, the National Award Winning actress, gets a big relief as the Sessions Court allowed her to live with her mother, post her alleged involvement and arrest in a prostitution racket busted Hyderabad police and subsequent transfer to a rescue home for rehabilitation.
Shweta’s mother had filed a revision plea in the Sessions Court challenging the lower court’s order, which had directed the actress on September 30, to continue her rehabilitation at the rescue home for six months.
On seeking a fresh report from the rescue home, the Sessions Court found that the former had no objection to the release of the actress.
Thus the court found it suitable to hand over the girl’s custody to her mother living in Mumbai, Defence lawyer Pradeep Kumar said.
Contending false framing of her daughter in the prostitution racket in her application, Shweta’s mother claimed it was a violation of her daughter’s fundamental rights in keeping her at the rescue home any longer.
In the first week of September, Hyderabad police had raided a five-star hotel and claimed to have busted a high-profile prostitution racket.
During the bust, a man who allegedly acted as her pimp, an assistant director in the Telugu film industry, was also arrested from the high-profile hotel in Hyderabad’s plush Banjaara Hills region.
According to the police, the actor confessed to the investigators that due to wanting new film projects and financial constraints, she had to turn to prostitution.
