Windows Phone 8 to Feature Arc-shaped Keyboard

Windows Phone 8

We still don’t have any official word on it. What we have are the details derived from a leaked image. From the looks of it, we hope the concept would be one hell of a typing aid.

The image suggests that the new keyboard is meant for one-handed typing. It shows a curved keyboard instead of the standard flat one. Windows Phone 8 is expected to bring configurations for such Arc soft keyboards in other languages as well.

From the image it looks that the keyboard would take up 50 percent of the screen. It is positioned on the screen in such a way that it can be used with one thumb.

The letters are grouped onto buttons instead of making it separate from each other. So like the physical number pads, one has to tap on a button to select a certain letter for typing a text.

You may be allowed to enter the text by means of some version of tracing with disambiguation, like the ones we have seen in Swype.
