Ex-Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni imprisoned in Kenya

Former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni along with her husband was detained in Kenya on Nov 9, 2014 in a joint operation between Mombasa Police and Drug Enforcement Agency.

Mamta and her husband were arrested for supposedly trafficking drugs. The news was spread through Twitter, a popular social media platform.

Mamta was a popular actress in the nineties and now she is in her forties with grey hair and spectacles. She was casted as the lead actress in several movies like ‘’Karan Arjun”, “Baazi”, Sabse Bada Khiladi and many more.

Mamta has converted herself into Islamic religion and shifted to Nairobi. She had spent an anonymous life previously in Dubai for certain period. But recently she came into limelight when she was spotted in Dubai jail by a newspaper.

According to Mamta, she travelled to Dubai along with her boyfriend, who is an international drug honcho named Vijay ‘Vicky’ Goswami.

Vicky was arrested in the year of 1997 for trafficking around 11.5 tonne of mandrax. As a result he was sentenced to 25 years of imprisonment as per Dubai Law. But he got released for his good conduct.

Along with Mamta and Vicky, two other people were also arrested. The most prominent name is Baktash Akasha who is a notorious drug mafia and the son of assassinated drug boss Ibrahim Akasha. The court has declared Mamta Kulkarni’s husband Vicky as the ‘key associate of Baktash Akasha’.

While Mamta is presently being interrogated by the police for her suspected connection in the case, she might be transported to India if found guilty.
