While New Zealand’s last series win dates back to January, where they defeated the visiting Indian squad 4-0, Pakistan’s search for an ODI series win stretches even back to December, in which they ended the previous year with a 3-2 win against Sri Lanka.
Their recent performance in the test series has earned them high praise. But it has been horrifying for the sub-continent team when digging out the results of their ODI campaigns.
New Zealand showed the dark horse power right throughout the UAE tour. They came from behind to draw the series, both in the five day formats and in the shortest ones. Also making their way back to the ODI squad are Ross Taylor and skipper Kane Williamson.
Their batting line-up seems of to be predictable and the tough call for Kane would be to deploy the right balance in the bowling front.
It also needs to be seen whether Daniel Vettori would be finding a place in the squad, after failing to impress with his spells in the T20 match against Pakistan.
