The Academy Award winner and Catherine Zeta-Jones first met at the Deauville Film Festival in 1998. The pair has been married for over two decades and share two children. Michael Douglas first saw Catherine Zeta-Jones in The Mask of Zorro, eventually realizing that she is the one. Michael planned a date with Catherine but things did not go well as planned for Douglas. Later on, the pair welcomed a child and exchanged vows in 2000.
In November 2002, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones found that they were going to have a second baby. Catherine told PEOPLE,
“I didn’t want to know until I finished it. The day after, I went to my doctor. I came home and told Michael. He let out a whoop. I never wanted Dylan to be an only child. Because of my amazing relationship with my siblings, I couldn’t see him being the Little Lord Dylan on his own.”
However, the journey of the power couple’s long-lasting relationship has been like a road with its bumps. In 2013, Douglas and Zeta-Jones briefly split before reconciling the following year.
In 2015, Michael spoke about the split and reconciliation while appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, stating, “It can’t be a one-way street.”
Michael also said,
“But I’m crazy about her. And yeah, I think every couple has their difficult times. The only problem is, as you well know, we’re all in the public eye, and it tends to get a little more exposed than most.”
Michael ended by saying that he and Catherine are stronger than ever.
