Social Security Payments To Come Soon, SSI Beneficiaries To Receive 2 Checks In December

The final checks before you receive your enhanced benefit amount, which begins in January 2023, will be your December Social Security payments, which will be sent soon. You’ll receive your first boost if you receive SSI in December.

Wait for a notification in the mail on the increase in your benefits from Social Security for 2023 in December. If you registered for a My Social Security account before Nov. 15, you can check your gifts online and get information regarding your specific benefit rate increase for the upcoming year.

The second, third, and fourth Wednesdays of each month are when the Social Security Administration pays out payments. Your birthdate determines which Wednesday you receive your money. SSI participants typically receive their prices on the first week of every month.

The payment plan is different if you earned Social Security payments before May 1997 or if you get both Social Security & SSI. You will now get your Social Security payout on the 3rd day of each month plus your SSI payment on the 1st day of each month rather than on a Wednesday.

Those payment dates are altered if the first or third of the month comes on a weekend. As an illustration, this year’s Oct. 1 fell on a Saturday. Thus, SSI recipients collected their October payments on Sept. 30, a day early, and their Social Security payout on Monday, October 33. The same rules apply in December for payments made in January 2023.

The Social Security Administration advises waiting three more mailing days before calling if, due to your birth date or other factors, your check doesn’t come on the day specified above.

Then you can call 800-772-1213 to talk with a representative if you still haven’t gotten it. According to the SSA, Wednesday through Friday, especially later in the day, have the shortest wait times to talk with a representative, reports CNET.
