How does an Electronic Pressure Regulator Valve Work?

A digital pressure regulator has the ability to cut off the flow of the gas or liquid when it reaches a certain value. Mostly, they are used in the process industry where these regulators lower the high pressure to a usable and safe pressure to form a safe environment. With the revolution of technology, the use of the pressure regulators is becoming more and more common in the process industry and other applications. It allows automation control for production machinery and for controlling the pressure from a specific location even if the regulator is located at an inaccessible place.

What is an Electronic Proportional Pressure Regulator?

A pressure regulator is a tool that reduces the input pressure to a low output pressure and maintains that pressure without any fluctuations. An electronic pressure regulator valve uses feedback features to control the pressure in the pneumatic system and as well as in the hydraulic system. The feedback is generated from the pressure that flows from the inlet valve. Basically, this feedback is a piece of information that informs the controller about the actions that should be performed. With the help of this information the controller increases or decreases the size of the orifice to reduce the pressure and to maintain a constant state of pressure in the system.

Working:

The main purpose of an electro pneumatic regulator is to match the flow of the gas or liquid to as per the demand of the system. Even having fluctuation in the input pressure it provides a constant output pressure. They are not only used in the process industry but also provide optimum experience in the air compressors and other applications.

Nowadays, a pressure regulator contains a transmitter, a PID controller and an electronic pressure regulator valve. According to the pressure that you want to reduce or maintain the valve is located upstream or downstream of the pressure sensor. The feedback signal is fed by the transmitter into the PID controller. This controller actuates the valve to make the pressure reach at the desired point by increasing or reducing the size of the orifice. To get the right electronic air pressure regulator, it’s necessary to know the parameters such as  volume, fill time, flow, nature of the media and the environmental temperature where the regulator will work.

In the aerospace industry, the digital air pressure regulator regulators serve the major role in propulsion pressurant control for different systems. It includes the reaction control and altitude control systems because of the presence of corrosive fluids, and high temperature. Other common applications where an electronic pressure regulator valve is widely used are welding, gas grills and medical equipment.

Final Words:

An electronic pressure regulator valve is a widely used tool in industries and other applications as well. The Main purpose of controlling the pressure is to provide safety to the workers and to the expensive system. In many industries dangerous gases and liquids are used in the manufacturing process. That’s why controlling the pressure in a system is imperative to avoid leakage and explosion. Resultantly, the life of your equipment also increases.
