Live: PM Modi Inaugurates the 102nd Indian Science Congress

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on Saturday inaugurated the 102nd session of the Indian Science Congress at the University of Mumbai.

Deliberations and presentations of papers are expected in this five day event and science fraternity from all across the world are expected to attend it.

The last time the Science Congress was held in Mumbai was 45 years ago. Trials are being made to portray Mumbai as a science city along with being the financial capital.

The city does boast of some very famous institutes like the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Indian Institute of Technology, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and many more and all of these renowned institutes will be participating in the Congress.

The theme for this year’s Science Congress is “Science and Technology for Human Development”. It is expected to bring together scholars and scientists who will play a key role in popularising science.

In the MMRDA Grounds in the Bandra – Kurla Complex a large exhibition will be organised which will focus on the innovations by the firms of India in the field of science and technology. In this exhibition giants like ISRO and the DRDO will also be participating.

The sessions in the congress will be covering the topics like veterinary science, environment, mathematics, computer science, forestry, medicine and physics among others.

About 12000 delegates from all across the country are expected to participate in this mega event. Scientists and Nobel laureates from across the globe are also expected to be there.
