Nearly 50% of American states have decided to step up to cover the gap left by the federal government’s withdrawal from the assistance program it set up during and soon after the pandemic.

The pandemic’s economic aftermath did not cause as great of disruption to American life as one might have anticipated. Since there was no other income source for months, millions of Americans lost their employment until the 3rd quarter of 2020, which worsened the situation.
The $1,200 CARES stimulus payments and the additional stimulus checks announced in the final month of 2020 saved Americans, particularly low and moderate-income families.
The state stimulus payment round was the federal payment substitute in 2022. It was somewhat sufficient to stave off the economic downturn brought on by rising inflation, although not as extensive as the economic impact payment as well as other support measures.
Some states, including California, which announced the largest stimulus payment support to 23 million of its inhabitants, or roughly 60% of the state population, have extended the payments beyond 2023.

Since debit card transactions will continue to be mailed through the US postal service until January 14, 2023, even if the majority of transactions in the Golden State have been sent out, those missing payments will need to wait another month. Payments will be made throughout the entire month, although a postal delay of up to two weeks is to be expected.
The rewards, based on Californians’ adjusted income for 2020, ranged to $1,050. The Middle-Class Tax Rebate, which was contingent on the state’s 2020 AGI and the existence of dependents, was awarded to individuals who submitted their 2022 tax returns by October 15, 2021.
With payments extending until January 2023, Idaho taxpayers will also have to wait. Couples filing jointly have received $600, and single filers have received $300.
The payment deadline was in December, but because of administrative complications, it has been extended until the new year. The same holds for Massachusetts citizens whose payments will stop in December. Many families’ $700 stimulus payments have yet to arrive, and the administration has blamed postal delays, reports DMN.
