Governor of Maine Janet Mills signed the $474 million plan into law, which includes many steps to help people deal with energy costs this winter. It is funded by the revenue forecast of $283 million from the Revenue Forecasting Committee.

The plan also uses the $157 million that the state received from the American Rescue Plan Act. As a result, every eligible Mainer will receive a $450 lump sum stimulus payout. The average household will receive $900, says the state.

Numerous New Hampshire residents have access to over $104 million in energy rebates and gasoline assistance. Programs for home energy rebates will receive around $70 million, and the state’s fuel assistance program will receive $34 million.

The State Will No Longer Accept Applications

By the end of the year, about $30 million will be supplied for over 1,900 residents. The government will no longer accept applications as the fund has been fully distributed. For the 2023–2024 academic year, the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now available.

Although the deadline is June 30, 2024, the earlier you file, the better. Since the applications are often chosen on a first-come, first-served basis, completing them as soon as possible can be crucial.
