Kapil Isapuri, a Hindi novelist has approached the Delhi High Court claiming that the story of “PK” directed by Raj Kumar Hirani is plagiarised from his novel released in 2013.
As per Kapil Isapuri, his novel, ‘Farishta’ was released in 2013. Kapil added that certain portions of the film are an exact replica of the sequences which he has narrated in his novel. The novelist has filed a plea through Advocate Jyothika Kalra.
Kapil Isapuri told that in his novel he has criticized the blind following of so called god-men, and the same thing has been done by Hirani as well. Even the concept of “artificial nature of religions” has also been allegedly copied from his book.
Kapil Isapuri claimed that the makers of the movie have cleverly copied the thread of his novel. He added that some minor changes has been made to make the film look original.
Isapuri has demanded 1 Crore INR as compensation from Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Raj Kumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi. Vidhu Vinod Chopra is the producer of “PK” whereas Abhijat Joshi is the script writer.
In the midst of all these controversies, “PK” is enjoying a tremendous run in the Box Office. The film has broken all collection records, and has grossed more than 600 Crore INR from the theaters worldwide.
“PK” stars Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles. The film showcases the story of an alien who reaches the earth and then questions the existence of religions and superstitions in the society.
