Residents of Georgia could soon receive a stimulus check for a tax credit of up to $500. This is why the state’s governor, Brian Kemp, proposed providing these one-time direct payments using a billion dollars from the state’s budget surplus. According to the Associated Press, the resolution was accepted by the Georgia State House of Representatives with 170 votes in favor and 1 against. The state senate would then keep discussing the plan.
House of Representatives Bill 1302
This policy would be based on House of Representatives Bill 1302 if it were to be implemented. Last year, Georgian taxpayers received a $500 reimbursement thanks to this bill. The fact that it provided couples submitting joint taxes up to $500 is one of its most noticeable characteristics. It offered heads of the household up to $375.00 in filing incentives, while single filers who filed together earned up to $250.00.
