Stimulus 2023: Americans To Receive $900 Grocery Check: Check If You Are Eligible

Just after the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, both of which had an impact on American citizens’ livelihoods, inflation increased over the previous year. As a result, seniors are finding it difficult to make ends meet and turn to the government for financial assistance to purchase wholesome meals.

The inflation rate in the United States hit record highs last year. Numerous government agencies authorized providing stimulus checks or tax rebates as inflation relief for hard-working Americans due to the rising prices, especially of staple goods.

Grocery Stimulus Check

The $900 grocery stimulus check for seniors (those over 60) has been discussed, but the federal government has not approved any extra money for 2022 and 2023. While elders still have the choice to receive earlier stimulus money and related benefits by submitting a previous year’s tax return, they must take part in other programs to receive grocery benefits.

The United States does struggle with promoting healthful eating, which is why programs like the Medicare Grocery Allowance Benefit exist. It enables recipients to shop at grocery shops that are a part of the program for a range of healthy foods.

Grocery Plus Programme

Fresh fruits and veggies, salad kits, milk products, meats & seafood, beans & legumes, grains like oats, cereals, rice, and pasta, frozen produce as well as meals, nutritious shakes & bars, water & vitamin water, and more are among the items that are supported by the Grocery Plus program.

The check is not valid for purchasing non-food products, such as those for pets, chips, desserts, baby formula, candy, soda, tobacco, fresh baked goods, or alcoholic beverages. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), run by the US government, provides financial aid to five million senior citizens to help them meet their basic nutritional requirements, reports MARCA.
