Jan Aushadhi Diwas is observed in India on March 7th every year to commemorate the success of the Jan Aushadhi campaign and to further promote the use of generic medicines among the masses.
The campaign, launched in 2008 by the Government of India, aims to make quality generic medicines accessible and affordable to all, especially the poor and underprivileged sections of society.
Quality generic medicines are easily available at affordable prices at more than 9,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras across the country.

What is Jan Aushadhi?
Jan Aushadhi, also known as the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), is a flagship scheme of the Government of India that provides high-quality generic medicines at affordable prices through a network of dedicated Jan Aushadhi stores.
These stores are run by pharmacists authorized by the Bureau of Pharma Public Sector Undertakings of India (BPPI) and offer a range of medicines in different therapeutic categories.
On the occasion of Jan Aushadhi Diwas, activities such as mapping of patients with Hypertension and diabetes, creation of ABHA Id, and many more are being organized at #AB_HealthandWellnessCentres across the country.
