Tata Consultancy Services, India’s largest software service provider, announced on Thursday, March 16, that TCS MD & CEO Rajesh Gopinathan has resigned.

K. Krithivasan has been named the Chief Executive Officer Designate of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) by the board, with effect as of March 16, 2023. TCS said in a statement that Rajesh Gopinathan will remain until September 2023 to provide transition and assistance to his successor.
The decision was made at a time when the Indian I.T. sector is dealing with a challenging macroeconomic environment in its key markets of Europe and the United States and is also receiving renewed attention due to its significant exposure to the U.S. banking sector, which is presently going through a financial crisis.

During Rajesh Gopinathan’s tenure as CEO, the business rose to the top of Fortune 500 companies’ list of preferred partners for business transformation. TCS is now a U.S. $25.7 billion multinational corporation with over 613,000 employees, making it the largest employer in the world’s private sector.
In the third quarter of FY23, he also assisted TCS in surpassing a record-breaking net profit threshold of Rs 10,846 crore. The company’s brand value surged by 212 percent to $45.5 billion under his direction for the last two years, earning it recognition as the Most Valuable Indian Brand in 2022 by Kantar BrandZ India rankings.
Gopinathan stepped down after a 22-year career with the firm, including six years as managing director and CEO.
