Gwyneth Paltrow testifies against Terry Sanderson in Utah Ski Trial

Gwyneth Paltrow testifies against Terry Sanderson in Utah Ski Trial.

On Friday, March 24, Gwyneth Paltrow testified for the 2016 ski crash incident near Deer Valley resort in front of the Park City, Utah jury.

The Lawsuit

After their 2016 involvement in a skiing accident at a resort in Utah, a retired Army ophthalmologist is suing Gwyneth Paltrow for $300,000.

Terry Sanderson, who first sued Paltrow for $3 million, claimed that Paltrow crashed into him at the Deer Valley Resort while not paying attention to her surroundings, leaving him with serious injuries, including four fractured ribs, a concussion, and traumatic brain injuries.

The Academy Award-winning actor countersued him for $1 and stated on Friday that she was doing it “symbolically” because the damages would actually be more serious.

As per CNN reports, Paltrow claimed in a countersuit of 1 dollar ( plus her attorney’s fees and other costs required to fend herself in the trial) that Sanderson had skied into her and blamed her for it in an attempt to cash in on her wealth and fame.

Paltrow was questioned whether she was filing a counterclaim for $1 in light of American singer Taylor Swift’s prior “symbolic” lawsuit.

However, Paltrow asserted that at the time, she was unaware of Swift’s story.

Swift was awarded $1 in August 2017 after a jury voted in her favor against former radio DJ David Mueller in a countersuit. Swift and radio promotions manager Frank Bell was first sued by Mueller for allegedly tampering with his contract as a Denver radio DJ by putting pressure on station KYGO to terminate him. The suit happened after Swift claimed Mueller had assaulted her during a meet-and-greet in 2013.

Sanderson’s attorney even questioned Paltrow whether she was friends with Taylor Swift, to which she replied with a no and later added she was on friendly terms with the singer but did not have frequent conversations.

Paltrow’s husband, Brad Falchuk, and her children, Apple, 18, and Moses, 16, whom she shares with ex-husband Chris Martin, are all likely to testify in the trial.
