On Sunday, March 26, Malayalam actor and former president of the Association Of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) lost his battle with heart failure.
Innocent’s Health Issues
Innocent was given a cancer diagnosis a few years back, in 2012. The actor did, however, declare that he was cancer-free in 2015. In the book Laughter in the Cancer Ward, he detailed his struggle with the disease.
As per The IndianExpress, on March 3, 2023, Innocent, a cancer survivor, was brought to Kochi’s VPS Lakeshore Hospital after he reported having trouble breathing and feeling uneasy. According to reports, the 75-year-old actor has been ill for some time.
But on Sunday, he succumbed to his illness that the medical officials traced back to covid related respiratory issues, multiple organ failure, and ultimately heart failure.
Innocent’s Career
In 1972’s Nrithasala, the actor made his big-screen debut. He appeared in more than 750 movies throughout a five-decade career, including Gandhinagar 2nd Street and Akkare Ninnoru Maran. He was also the president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) for 15 years.
The actor’s most recent appearance was in the 2017 film Kaduva, which starred Prithviraj. His final screen appearance will be in Paachuvum Albhuthavilakkum, which is scheduled to premiere on April 28.
Innocent defeated Congress stalwart PC Chacko while serving as the independent candidate for the Chalakkudy constituency in the 16th Lok Parliament.
Built on his memories, he has written five books and has contributed editorials to journals and newspapers.
South Indian celebrities and various ministers used social media to express their sorrow on the passing of the cherished performer.
