If you’re still struggling financially due to the pandemic, you might be eligible for some extra cash from your state. Six American states have announced new stimulus payments for 2023, ranging from $300 to $3,284 per person. Here’s what you need to know to see if you qualify.
California: The Golden State Stimulus III will provide $600 to eligible residents who have an adjusted gross income (AGI) of $75,000 or less and did not receive the previous two payments. In addition, families with children will receive an extra $500.
The payments will be sent out automatically to those who file their 2022 state tax returns by March 15, 2023.
Colorado: The Colorado Comeback Cash program will distribute $375 to about 435,000 residents who received at least one unemployment benefit payment between March 15 and October 24, 2022. The payments will be made by direct deposit or prepaid debit card by March 31, 2023 , according to The Sun.
Florida: The Florida Freedom Dividend will give $1,000 to teachers and principals who worked in public schools during the 2022-2023 academic year. The payments will be delivered by March 15, 2023.
Maryland: The RELIEF Act of 2023 will provide $300 for individuals and $500 for families who claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) on their 2022 state tax returns. The payments will be sent out automatically by March 31, 2023.
New Mexico: The New Mexico Workers’ Pandemic Benefit will offer $750 to workers who earned less than $31,200 in 2022 and did not receive unemployment benefits. The payments will be made by direct deposit or check by March 31, 2023.
Texas: The Texas Tax Rebate will return $200 to every taxpayer who paid state sales tax in 2022. The payments will be mailed out by March 15, 2023.
If you live in one of these six states, make sure you file your state tax returns on time and update your bank information if needed. You could receive a nice boost to your income this spring.
