Eligibility for Maine’s Emergency Winter Energy Relief Plan
If you are a Maine resident who is struggling to pay your heating bills this winter, you may be eligible for the Emergency Winter Energy Relief Plan. This plan provides one-time payments of up to $500 to help low-income households with their heating costs.
To qualify for the plan, you must meet the following criteria:
– You must have a household income at or below 150% of the federal poverty level.
– You must have a heating emergency, such as a disconnection notice, a low fuel supply, or a broken heating system.
– You must not have received any other state or federal heating assistance in the past 12 months.

Payments for Maine residents
If you are eligible for the plan, you can apply online or by mail. You will need to provide proof of your income, your heating emergency, and your identity. You will also need to provide your bank account information or a mailing address where you can receive a check.
The application period for the plan is from November 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023. Payments will be made within 10 business days of receiving your application. You can only apply once per heating season.
