Leaked Memo: Google Announces New Cost-Cutting Measures

Google has reportedly announced some cost-cutting measures.

Google announced some cost-cutting measures on April 1, 2023. The company has also added that employees will longer be able to enjoy the benefits of cafes, and micro kitchens among other facilities.

The company stated that these changes will help “reduce food waste and be better for the environment”.

Here’s the memo

Dear Googlers,

As you know, we are facing unprecedented challenges in the wake of the global pandemic and economic downturn. We have been working hard to find ways to reduce our expenses and optimize our operations without compromising our core values and mission.

One of the areas where we have identified significant savings potential is our food program. We have been providing free meals and snacks to our employees for many years, and we are proud of the quality and variety of our food offerings. However, we also recognize that this program has a high cost and a large environmental impact.

That is why we have decided to implement some changes to our food program, effective from next month. These changes will help us “reduce food waste and be better for the environment”, as well as align with our long-term vision of being a more sustainable and responsible company.

Here are some of the changes that you can expect:

– We will reduce the number of meals served per day from three to two. Breakfast and lunch will still be available, but dinner will no longer be offered. We encourage you to plan ahead and bring your own dinner or order from local restaurants if you need to work late.
– We will limit the portion sizes and choices of food items. We will offer a fixed menu of balanced and nutritious meals, with vegetarian and vegan options. You will no longer be able to customize your orders or request special ingredients. We will also reduce the amount of snacks and beverages available throughout the day.
– We will introduce a nominal fee for each meal that you consume. The fee will be deducted from your paycheck at the end of each month. The fee will vary depending on the type and quantity of food that you select, but it will be significantly lower than the market price. We will provide you with more details on the fee structure and payment method soon.

We understand that these changes may not be easy or popular, but we believe that they are necessary and beneficial for our company and our planet. We appreciate your cooperation and support as we make this transition. If you have any questions or feedback, please contact your manager or HR representative.

Thank you for your continued dedication and contribution to Google.

Sincerely,

The Google Leadership Team
