Since Monday morning, April 3, people have been facing issues with the State Bank of India’s online services, including internet banking, the YONO app, UPI services, and credit card payments.
What We Know So Far
Downdetector, a service that tracks outages, traced the issue to have started around 9:19 am. Users reported having trouble accessing their SBI accounts online, monitoring account balances, and doing online transactions.
Almost 1,800 users reported the outage at its peak at 10:30 am. The graph of website issue reports has only recently started to decline.
Outraged customers
The news only appeared on social media when customers could not pay anyone through any of the bank’s services.
As per the Hindustan Times, many took to Twitter to urge the reputed institution to comment on the current situation, while some raised questions about the possibility of an ongoing cyber attack.

SBI still needs to release a formal statement on the subject. Nevertheless, the bank had already issued circular warning clients that UPI, YONO App, and Internet Banking services will be suspended on April 1 for three hours due to bank closing activities.
