Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has shocked the Dogecoin community by removing the $DOGE logo from his Twitter home page. The logo was seen as a sign of Musk’s support and endorsement of the popular meme-based cryptocurrency.
Why did Musk remove the logo?
Musk has not given any official explanation for his decision to remove the logo, but some speculate that it could be related to his recent comments on Dogecoin’s development and future.
In an interview with Lex Fridman, a podcast host and AI researcher, Musk said that he hopes that Dogecoin can become “the world’s currency on Mars” and that he has been in contact with the Dogecoin developers to suggest some improvements to the network.

However, Musk also admitted that he does not have a lot of influence over Dogecoin and is not a “Dogecoin maximalist.” He said he owns some Dogecoin, but not a significant amount compared to his other assets. He also said he is open to other cryptocurrencies that can provide better scalability, security, and energy efficiency than Bitcoin or Dogecoin.
How did the Dogecoin community react?
The Dogecoin community, which has been largely supportive and enthusiastic about Musk’s involvement with the project, was taken aback by his removal of the logo. Some expressed disappointment and confusion, while others speculated that it could be a temporary move or a prank. Some even wondered if Musk’s account was hacked or compromised.
However, some Dogecoin fans remained optimistic and loyal to Musk, saying that he still supports Dogecoin and that his actions do not affect the value or potential of the coin. They pointed out that Musk has repeatedly changed his Twitter profile picture, including using an anime character and a sheep. They also noted that Musk still follows the official Dogecoin account and frequently tweets about the coin.
Ultimately, Dogecoin’s future will depend on its ability to innovate, adapt and deliver value to its users and investors. As Musk said in his interview with Fridman: “The most ironic outcome would be that Dogecoin becomes the currency of Earth in the future.”
