The Covid-19 pandemic has caused unprecedented economic hardship for millions of Americans. While the federal government has distributed several rounds of stimulus checks to help people cope with the crisis, some states plan to provide additional relief to their residents in 2023. Here is a list of seven states considering more stimulus checks this year and how much money they could send out.

California

California residents who filed their 2020 state tax returns by October 15, 2021, and met certain income and residency requirements, may be eligible for a stimulus payment of $200 to $1,050, depending on their filing status and the number of dependents. The payments are part of the California Comeback Plan, which aims to support middle-class families and small businesses affected by the pandemic. The payments are expected to be sent out in the first half of 2023.

Idaho

Idaho residents who filed their 2020 and 2021 state tax returns by December 31, 2022, and were full-year residents of the state, may qualify for two tax rebates in 2023. The first rebate is based on the number of family members and the tax liability before credits and other taxes. The second rebate is based on the filing status and the tax liability before credits, additional taxes, payments, and donations. The rebates could range from $75 to $600 per person, depending on the calculation method. The rebates will be sent out throughout 2023.

Maine

Maine residents who filed their 2021 state tax returns by October 31, 2022, and were full-year residents of the state, may receive a stimulus payment of $450 for single filers or $900 for joint filers. The payments are part of the Maine Recovery Plan, which aims to invest in infrastructure, education, health care, and other sectors to boost the state’s economy and recovery from the pandemic. The payments will be sent out in early 2023.

New Mexico

New Mexico residents who received at least one federal stimulus check in 2020 or 2021, and had an adjusted gross income of less than $75,000 for single filers or $150,000 for joint filers in 2019 or 2020, may be eligible for a one-time payment of $600 from the state. The payments are part of the New Mexico Recovery Package, which aims to help low-income families, essential workers, small businesses, and other groups impacted by the pandemic. The payments will be sent out in mid-2023.

New York

New York residents who were excluded from receiving federal stimulus checks due to their immigration status, and had an adjusted gross income of less than $26,208 for single filers or $53,000 for joint filers in 2019 or 2020, may qualify for a one-time payment of $15,600 from the state. The payments are part of the Excluded Workers Fund, which aims to provide financial assistance to undocumented workers who lost income due to the pandemic. The payments will be sent out in late 2023.

Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania residents who are at least 65 years old, widowed or disabled, and had an annual income of less than $35,000 for single filers or $45,000 for joint filers in 2019 or 2020, may be able to apply for a stimulus payment of up to $975 from the state. The payments are part of the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program, which aims to help eligible seniors and disabled people pay their property taxes or rent. The payments will be sent out in early 2023.

Tennessee

Tennessee residents who received unemployment benefits in 2020 or 2021, and had an adjusted gross income of less than $75,000 for single filers or $150,000 for joint filers in 2019 or 2020, may receive a one-time payment of $500 from the state.
