Tallest statue of Dr BR Ambedkar inaugurated in Hyderabad on his 132nd birth anniversary

On the birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar unveils a 125ft long statue of Dr Ambedkar on Friday, April 14, 2023.

The statue is situated in Hyderabad near the state secretariat and Telangana martyrs’ memorials. While giving his speech Mr K Chandrasekhar said that the formation of Telangana was possible because of Dr Ambedkar, and without him, we could not imagine Telangana”.

Mr Prakash Ambedkar, the grandson of Dr Ambedkar, was invited as the chief guest. Mr Prakash said Telangana should be considered India’s 2nd capital on the inaugural statue.

After the speech of chief minister K Chandrasekhar and Prakash Ambedkar, a prayer session was conducted and the statue was showered with flowers with the help of a helicopter.

The statue was made using 360 tonnes of steel and 114 tonnes of bronze, costing 146.50 crores, and it is also the tallest statue of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar.

On the 132^nd birth anniversary, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, PM Narendra Modi along with President Droupadi Murmu, also paid tribute to the architect of the Indian Constitution on his birth anniversary
