From Pop Star to Rape Victim: Roy Rosello’s Shocking Story of Being Abused by Jose

Ex-Menudo Member Roy Rosello Makes A Shocking Revelation About Being Raped By Jose Menendez

Roy Rosello, a former member of the well-known Puerto Rican boy band Menudo, alleges Jose Menendez, father of the infamous Menendez brothers, also victimized him in the 1980s. These accusations were made public on Tuesday, April 18, on the “Today” show as part of an exclusive sneak peek in the upcoming three-part Peacock docuseries “Menendez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed.”

The Accusations

Rossello claims in a clip from the “Today” episode that Jose Menendez drugged and assaulted him when he was 14 years old when they were visiting the Menendez family’s New Jersey home. During the video, Rossello adds, “That’s the man here that raped me. That’s the pedophile.”

As per Variety, when the alleged attack allegedly occurred, Jose Menendez oversaw RCA Records.

The docuseries covers Rossello’s narrative of alleged abuse by not just Jose but also by another management of Menudo and is based on the reporting of journalists Robert Rand and Nery Ynclan. In their HBO Max docuseries “Menudo: Forever Young,” members of Menudo had previously claimed that they endured abuse when they were bandmates.

The Menendez brothers were painted throughout their trial as cold-blooded, money-hungry killers in reaction to Lyle and Erik’s extravagant spending after their parents had been murdered. However, this new revelation from Rossello has the potential to change that perception.

The Case Of The Menendez Brothers

Erik and Lyle Menendez were found guilty of the gruesome 1989 murders of Jose and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez in the family’s enormous Beverly Hills house. Erik was 18 at the time of the deaths, and Lyle was 21.

Jose, a Hollywood executive and the chairman of RCA Records at the time of his death, was shot dead in the head, while Kitty, 47, sustained 15 bullet wounds, one of which was to the face.

After years of being sexually abused by their father, the boys eventually claimed they shot the couple in self-defense.

According to the judge, the defense was irrelevant and thus inadmissible in court. The Menendez brothers were given a life sentence without the possibility of parole for the double murder of their parents in 1996.
