Dubai-Bound Aircraft Catches Fire After Take-off From Nepal

On Monday, April 24, just after taking off from Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport, an aircraft operated by Fly Dubai with more than 150 people on board caught fire in one of its engines.

The Incident

Soon after taking off from the Kathmandu airport, flames could be seen coming from one of the aircraft’s engines on the route to Dubai.

As per IndiaToday, after an issue with one of its engines was detected, the FlyDubai plane had to be turned around and lingered above the sky in Dharke.

Fire engines were set on standby when it was first reported that the aircraft was attempting to force land at the airport. However, according to a statement from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, the Fly Dubai jet was flying to its destination, showing that at least one of the engines was operating correctly.
