‘Agent’ Movie Review – Akhil Akkineni’s thrilling spy adventure

'Agent' Movie

“Agent”, the long-awaited spy thriller from Akhil Akkineni, has finally opened in theatres on Friday, April 28.

The Plot

Akhil Akkineni’s character, Ramakrishna, alias Ricky, aspires to join the Research Analysis Wing (RAW), which protects the nation’s security, as an agent. Ricky regards Chief Mahadev (Mammootty) as his guru. He is repeatedly turned down for employment with the firm due to his combative temperament and restlessness.

Meanwhile, Mahadev strives to stop Dharma, also known as God (Dino Morea), from destroying the nation. In such a case, Mahadev recruits Ricky as an ethical hacker.

As per FilmiBeat, Akhil Akkineni is given a significant part to play. Surender Reddy, the film’s director, did a good job creating Akhil’s character arc, which is very different from Akhil’s past roles. His performance is fantastic to witness on screen, especially during action scenes. For fans, seeing Akhil as such a unique character is a feast. Surender Reddy also brings out Akhil’s talent as a dancer. The work Akhil put into the part and his development is commendable.

Mammootty is given a respectable part. His persona makes it difficult for the spectator to determine if he is a RAW leader or a villain.

Some Drawbacks

The plot is entirely predictable, though. Vakkantam Vamsi needs to have taken extra care to craft the second hour of the tale, at the very least, in an exciting way. The first half of the screenplay, which is excellent, is followed by a second half that drags.

The movie’s second half is a massive letdown and was not as enjoyable as the first. The pivotal part seems so ridiculous. In the second half, the emotional component lacked effectiveness.

Hiphop Tamizha’s music and Rasool Ellore’s cinematography are both passable. Naveen Nooli should have cut out a lot of pointless sequences in the second half of the film, as the editing may have been better.
