Although another wave of federal stimulus checks for Americans is unlikely to arrive anytime soon, several states have been providing money to their citizens to assist them deal with rising prices. Last year, several governments gave people extra incentives to assist them cope with the surging cost of living. The government reported on Wednesday that consumer prices increased once more in April and that underlying inflation measures remained strong. Here are a few states where residents are receiving stimulus checks, including tax refunds.
Stimulus Checks For Georgia
Those who meet the qualifications will get a 2022 Excess Tax Refund from Georgia. Refunds range from $250 to $375 for households’ heads, $500 for single filers, and $250 for married filers filing separately. For someone to be eligible, they must have submitted their single income tax refund for the tax years 2021 & 2022 by the deadline of April 18, 2023, have a tax due for the 2021 tax year, and either be a full-time or part-time resident of Georgia.
Maine’s Stimulus Payments
To assist families in staying warm and safe, the Winter Energy Relief Plan of Maine distributed funds to the majority of taxpayers. Individuals who met the qualifications for income and claimed their Maine income tax for 2021 returns as full-year residents no later than October 31, 2022, received payments of $450, and married couples and families received payments of $900. Gov. Janet Mills of Maine reported in March that her team had processed and mailed refunds to nearly 900,000 qualified taxpayers ahead of time.
New Mexico
Residents of New Mexico received rebates last year, and another round will be given in June. Those who file as singles will receive $500, while married individuals who file jointly, heads of household, and surviving partners will get $1,000. The deadline for filing a 2021 rebate and being eligible for the rebate is May 31, 2024. Checks will begin to be mailed around the mid of June when direct deposits have been made reports Newsweek.
