The following installment of a program that provides $500 stimulus payments every month to 305 families in California, Sonoma County, will be sent out in four days. 305 families were chosen for the Road to Income Equity trial program out of 6,450 applicants. As per the Administrator Office of Sonoma County, applicants needed to have at least one kid under the age of six, have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic in some way, and have a household income that was no more than 185% of the federal poverty line.

Improving the Financial Situation Of Families

The program is crucial for combating household poverty, according to Angie Dillon-Shore, the First 5 Sonoma County’s executive director, a nonprofit organization devoted to early childhood development. She also addressed concerns that it would encourage sloth. She stated, “The quantity of applications we got speaks to the problem that so many people in our neighborhood are struggling with.

“It’s a misconception that giving people money makes them less likely to work. The majority of our chosen recipients are already employed, with many of them needing to work more than 40 hours per week or several jobs to make ends meet. Better results for their children will arise from them being able to spend a longer duration with their families, obtain better employment, or improve their financial situation thanks to this more revenue.

Stimulus Payments Will Assist Families

The program is a component of an investigation of the impact of guaranteed income on low-income households. On May 17, the program will send out the following payment. The chair of the Board of Supervisors of Sonoma County, Supervisor Chris Coursey, stated that “these payments will assist families with young kids who frequently find themselves under a double load of the elevated costs of housing & child care, usually the two highest household expenses” reports Washingtonexaminer.
