According to reports, WhatsApp is developing a new tool called the “sticker maker tool” that would enable users to make stickers directly from the iOS app.
Development So Far
WhatsApp is working on a feature that lets users make stickers off photographs. This feature is present in the most recent WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.10.7.4, according to WhatsApp news tracker WABetaInfo, which broke the news earlier.
WABetaInfo provided a screenshot to show the location of the option, which is reportedly called “New Sticker.”
The chat share action sheet will have a section labeled “New Sticker. “The feature would let users select photos from their collection and provide editing options, such as the ability to eliminate the backdrop.
Advantages Of The Tool
This functionality will lessen a WhatsApp user’s reliance on third-party sticker creator applications. WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp for Desktop already have identical features. On iOS, this function will have extra capabilities. This will improve users’ overall native platform experiences.
As per Hindustan Times, the feature automatically extracts a subject from a photo and turns it into a sticker within the app using iOS 16 APIs.
WhatsApp is also working on a new group calling feature for macOS devices that would allow users to make group conversations with only a selected number of participants. Earlier, the button was either disabled or did not work on macOS, making it impossible to begin a group call.
Whatsapp is also testing a revised chat share sheet and a new emoji panel on the Web beta version. The icon in the beta update’s chat share sheet is labeled. The new emoji desk is also more compact, with a reduced UI footprint.
