Amul Calls Out Fake Video Circulating Online Claiming Fungal Growth In Lassi

On Thursday, May 25,Amul has explicitly refuted accusations made in a popular video claiming that some Amul Lassi boxes contain fungus

The Video

In the video, which is going around on social media, the creator says that he discovered fungus in certain Amul Lassi packets despite the fact that they were not past their expiration date. 

Amul said that the video had been misused to raise unwarranted anxiety, alarm among customers, and disinformation.

“This is for your kind information that a fake message is being forwarded on WhatsApp and social media platforms regarding the inferior quality of Amul Lassi,” read Amul’s statement on Twitter. The location and more information about the video maker have yet to be provided to the company.

The company goes on to say that Amul Lassi is subjected to stringent quality controls for product quality and package integrity. They reassured consumers that Amul Lassi is produced in their cutting-edge dairies and goes through strict quality tests to ensure the product’s quality and the integrity of its packaging.

Probable Cause Of The Fungus

The FMCG behemoth noted in its statement that the pinhole from which the liquid is seeping is to blame for the fungal growth in the packets. 

As per Mint reports, Amul has made it a routine procedure to add a warning on every one of its packages telling consumers not to buy puffed or leaking packages. They asked consumers not to be misled by the deceptive video and reminded them that their products are safe for ingestion.
