Cambridge Residents To Receive Stimulus Checks On Monthly Basis

The Rise Up Cambridge initiative seeks to assist families with at least one kid. Cambridge has committed $22 million as a stimulus payment. The Cambridge RISE pilot program, a previous city effort, served as the foundation for this current venture.

Initiative For Stimulus Payment

The new initiative aims to address “racial inequities and the widening economic divide” in the city. Direct cash aid is used in the program as an “effective anti-poverty strategy” that gives residents control over how to manage their financial requirements and objectives. A candidate must be at least 18 years old, a Cambridge resident, and have at least one household member who is under the age of 21 to be eligible for Cambridge’s guaranteed monthly stimulus check. The household’s income must be equal to or less than 250 percent of the poverty threshold set by the government.

Eligibility For Receiving Stimulus Checks

Candidates must satisfy the income criteria, which vary based on the size of the household. For instance, the income barrier for a family of two is $49,300, while the income criterion for a family with three members is $62,150. Every extra household member raises the income needed. For a total of $9,000, Cambridge will guarantee that selected recipients would get $500 stimulus checks every month for 18 months. The program will pick about 2,000 families. The recipients will not be required to record the monthly contributions as taxable income and are free to use the funds any way they see fit.

Eligible residents must submit an online application. The submission website will go up on June 1 and then close on July 31. Community outreach staff can assist applicants with filling out an application. Following the application, you will receive a confirmation SMS or email with a link to check the status of your application.
