Scarlett Johansson is no stranger to the red carpet, but she still managed to turn heads at the Cannes Film Festival 2023 with her stunning pink Prada dress. The actress attended the premiere of her new film “Asteroid City”, directed by Wes Anderson, on May 23 in Cannes, France.
The custom-made dress featured a straight silhouette and a peekaboo-detail white bralette that added a touch of contrast and modernity to the romantic look. Johansson paired the dress with metallic silver pumps and a bold red lipstick that matched her name. She wore her hair in a sleek updo and accessorized with diamond drop earrings.
Johansson was joined by her husband, Colin Jost, who looked dapper in a classic black tuxedo. The couple, who wed in 2020, posed for photos on the red carpet and shared some sweet moments. Johansson also mingled with her co-stars from “Asteroid City”, including Maya Hawke, Jason Schwartzman and Tom Hanks.
“Asteroid City” is one of the most anticipated films of the festival, as it marks Anderson’s return to the big screen after his acclaimed “The French Dispatch” in 2020. The film is set in an American desert town in 1955, where a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention is disrupted by earth-shaking events. The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast that also includes Margot Robbie, Hong Chau, Hope Davis, Jeffrey Wright, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Liev Schrieber, Matt Dillon and Steve Carrell.
Johansson has a long-standing relationship with Prada, as she recently fronted the brand’s “The Glass Age” campaign in May. She told WWD that working with Prada and artist Alex Da Corte was “truly exhilarating” and that she felt “proud to be a part of” the project.
The Cannes Film Festival is one of the most prestigious events in the film industry, showcasing the best of international cinema and celebrating artistic excellence. The festival runs from May 16 to May 27 and awards the coveted Palme d’Or prize to the best film of the competition.
