Netflix's live-action remake of 'One Piece' finally gives us a release date

The wait is nearly over for fans of the long-running manga and anime series ‘One Piece’. Netflix has finally announced a release date for its live-action remake: August 31, 2023.

The series, which has been in development for several years, will follow the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his crew of Straw Hat Pirates as they set sail on a journey to find the legendary One Piece treasure. The cast includes Mackenyu as Luffy, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Morgan Davies as Koby.

The series will be produced by Steven Maeda (‘Lost’, ‘Heroes’) and Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the original manga. Oda will also serve as an executive producer.

‘One Piece’ is one of the most popular manga series in the world, with over 490 million copies in circulation. The anime adaptation has been running for over 20 years and has over 1,000 episodes.
