The Television Academy and Fox are delaying award ceremony dates as the organizations continue their disagreement with the studios.
The2023 Emmys have canceled their usual September dates as actors and writers continue their fight against the media.
The 75th annual awards ceremony was originally scheduled for September 18 for Fox.
The new date has not been confirmed, but sources close to the show have confirmed that the original date and month were not taken into further consideration.
Ideally, the show won’t take place until SAG-AFTRA and the Writers Guild of America reach an agreement with the Film and Television Producers Guild, but the Television Academy and 2023 broadcaster Nature Fox are still negotiating when the show will appear dead.
If TV Academy and Fox comply on September 18, they risk an empty room: 16 of the 25 awards should be given to the 2022 Emmy television broadcast live actor or writer newspaper.
SAG-AFTRA’s strike policy requires actors not to promote products manufactured by protesting companies, and the awards ceremony is within the rules.
WGA writers also write information for managers and supervisors (who are almost always SAG-AFTRA members).
This is the first time the Emmy Awards have been postponed in over two decades.
Following the September 11 terrorist attacks, Television Academy and CBS suspended awards in 2001; The show was broadcast in November of that year. The runoff for the Emmys continues as scheduled. TV Academy members will begin voting for the candidates on August 17.
Whether the 2023 Emmys will be awarded in 2023 is still up in the air.
